Position Overview

We're seeking an experienced Field Director who will lead the campaign's grassroots voter contact strategy, manage our field team, and build the infrastructure necessary to mobilize voters across San Francisco. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to community organizing, highly strategic, and has the skills and experience to run a sophisticated, city-wide voter engagement operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and oversee a comprehensive field strategy for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and voter turnout.
• Hire, train, and manage a diverse team of field organizers, canvassers, volunteers, and interns.
• Create detailed field plans, including precinct targeting, canvass schedules, phone and text banks, and volunteer trainings.
• Coordinate closely with the Data Director to ensure accurate tracking of voter contact efforts and use data insights to inform and adapt strategy.
• Foster a culture of accountability, inclusivity, enthusiasm, and relentless focus on voter engagement and community-building.
• Manage daily and weekly reporting of field activities, metrics, and progress toward voter contact goals.
• Collaborate with the Political Director/Organizer to build strategic community partnerships and engage key constituencies.
• Oversee logistics and execution of all field activities, ensuring smooth operation and effective communication across teams.

Qualifications

• Non-political equivalent experience will be considered from someone with very strong logistics and management experience.
• At least 3-5 years of political organizing experience, ideally with previous experience as a Field Director, Deputy Field Director, or senior organizing role on a campaign.
• Proven ability to build and execute comprehensive voter engagement programs at scale.
• Strong leadership skills with experience hiring, training, and managing field teams.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking.
• Proficiency in voter database management (e.g., VAN/EveryAction) and familiarity with campaign technology and tools.
• Deep commitment to progressive values, grassroots organizing, and community empowerment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to motivate diverse teams and volunteers.
• Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred

• Experience with campaigns or organizing efforts in San Francisco or similar urban environments.
• Multilingual abilities relevant to San Francisco communities.
• Familiarity with relational organizing and digital organizing tools.
